THE OPPORTUNITY:
On behalf of our client, Red Tree Consulting is currently looking to recruit a Risk Actuary for a Large International Financial Services company based in Dublin.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Driven by the requirements of Solvency II, the following opportunity is being created to enhance the Companies quantitative capabilities. The successful applicant will have an opportunity to shape the company’s quantitative risk analysis framework and provide direct input into risk based decision making across the organisation.
-Risk Appetite
- Implement Risk Appetite early warning system
- monitor the development of capital requirements relative to available resources and report breaches of defined tolerances;
- Develop the Risk Appetite process to meet specific Solvency II requirements and embed the process as part of business-as-usual risk management.
-Liability / Product Risk Management
- Manage half-yearly review of products open to new business in cooperation with Actuarial Corporate and Product Solutions;
- Design a template for on-going reporting of product and liability risks to local and Global Life Risk Management functions;
- Coordinate sign-off process for products brought to Product Development Committee;
- Act as bridge between Global Life Risk and local product development functions.
Solvency II Implementation
- Develop proposals to instil a culture of active risk awareness across the organisation that can be evidenced to meet Solvency II’s “use test” requirements;
- Play a leading role in developing and implementing ORSA process;

Establish and maintain strong ties between Finance/Actuarial and Risk Management project work streams to ensure integrated approach to meeting Pillar I and II requirements;
-Operational Risk Based Capital
- Lead top down scenario process to determine operational risk based capital requirements
- Perform sensitivity analyses to assess the impact of loss events and changes to control environment on operational risk based capital requirements
CANDIDATE PROFILE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Ability to work with business management to meet the demands of comprehensive Risk Management program
- Ability to instil a culture of active risk awareness across organisation
- Compliance with minimum service standards and agreed qualitative and quantitative RM KPI’s
- Effective engagement with other Assurance functions (Compliance, Legal, Audit)
- Qualified Life Actuary
- Thorough business and industry knowledge
- Strong quantitative skills
- Proven ability to communicate the financial implications of risk-reward trade-offs
- Awareness of principles of enterprise risk management and effective corporate governance
- Experience of working in international environment and with virtual teams
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and strong change management capabilities
