THE OPPORTUNITY:
On behalf of our client, Red Tree Consulting is currently looking to recruit a Reporting and Reserving Actuary for a Dublin based business unit of a large Multi-National Insurer.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Production of actuarial valuation figures - conduct the quarterly and year-end internal reserving process. Meet all reporting deadlines on a timely basis and ensure accuracy of information produced.
- Validate pricing proposals, in accordance with Head Office underwriting guidelines from Global Underwriting Team and liaise with the CFO, Global Commercial Director and other associates as required to produce definitive pricing structures.
- Provide independent sign-off to new business quotations, mid-term adjustments and renewals within set timescales, including reviewing policy documentation for new or existing clients.
- Ensure that all business is handled and processed in accordance within:
- Agreed service standards
- Statutory regulations
- Internal compliance requirements
- Underwriting guidelines
- Standard Company policies and procedures
- Provide accurate management information to the CFO in the form of monthly MI reports / presentations, ensuring that all stakeholders are kept properly informed of key developments.
- Build detailed knowledge, liaising with Head Office where necessary, on the reinsurance aspects to the portfolio, following Group guidelines and making recommendations where necessary to CFO.
- Review development and monitoring of key assumptions that are used in profitability models.
- Provide technical support for existing business.
- Co-ordinate the timely completion of work within the actuarial team.
- Monitor developments in actuarial reserving and research the external market to identify risks and opportunities for the business.
CANDIDATE PROFILE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Nearly or Newly Qualified Non-Life actuary.
- Extensive general insurance experience (travel insurance would be an advantage) with a proven track record in applying successful underwriting decisions.
- Thorough and broad understanding of the business and general insurance industry.
- Sound understanding of the external environment and of modern actuarial skills, processes and techniques.
- Good working knowledge of professional standards and codes.
- Foreign languages an advantage and/or working in a cross-border environment.
- Proficient IT skills especially in Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook; Lotus Notes and Liberty knowledge would be useful.
- Clearly analytical approach, with ability to manage complex financial data and statistics to deliver sophisticated outcomes.
- Able to maintain a successful balance between strategic forward-planning and day-to-day complex details.
- Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills with a helpful, flexible and solution-oriented approach.
