In 2018, the legal recruitment market for solicitors and company secretaries was very strong and all the indicators show that this will continue into 2019. We have compiled a salary guide from 2018 which you can see below.
SOLICITORS, WHAT’S IN DEMAND & WHAT CAN YOU GET?
Given the shortage of strong candidates in the market, our clients are always interested in speaking to solicitors at all levels with experience in the following areas; aviation & asset finance, banking & finance, commercial property, construction, corporate, data protection, funds, IT/IP & Regulatory Law.
In addition, solicitors with experience in niche areas such as Healthcare, Insurance Defence, Employment, Pensions, Professional Indemnity and Tax are always sought after.
Positive economic conditions plus the arrival of large UK firms have also added to demand and an upward impact on the salaries on offer.
Aside from market leading salaries and bonus / benefits packages which are in some cases comparable to the London market, we’re also seeing the re-emergence of sign on bonuses, guaranteed bonuses for the first year together with re-location allowances where applicable.
It is likely that there will be a further uplift of between 5-10% in some cases as employers compete to secure top talent.
The demand for company secretaries from client firms or companies with between 1-5 years’ experience in either funds or corporate has remained strong.
Given that demand has significantly outweighed supply it is no surprise that salaries have followed in an upward trend.
OFF-SHORE, COMPANY SECRETARIAL
We are also seeing strong demand for Company Secretaries with a minimum of 3 years’ experience from our off-shore clients where strong candidates can earn up to $100,000 tax free.
